Quick question, I had 2 American Guinea hogs that just turned a year old in March. We went through the sad unfortunate event of finding one of them that got shocked to death from our electric netting tonight. Now the other pig is all alone. We are considering sending him to freezer camp next weekend because temps r still slightly cool and we don't think he will thrive without his buddy
What are the thoughts of you all?

What were your plans for the pigs? Were they to be a breeding pair, or destined for freezer camp?
You are right, pigs like company and he will be a lonely pig. I’m sorry that the other one died, that had to be very sad for you.
If you are not going to get another pig, then slaughter could be a good idea.

I’ve slaughtered hogs in the summer. Weather doesn’t have to be cold or cool. Skin, gut, quarter and pack on ice. It goes pretty quick. Then take the pieces, one at a time, in the house to process.
