TLDR: how to kickstart breeding after a long hiatus (well over 6 months).

Good day. We have rabbits for meat. Last year was kind of a right off. They didn't breed well and a lot of the kits we did get either died or escaped. Anyway we've fixed the escaping issue. I haven't bred since summer. I tried a could of does in November but it didn't take.

What steps do I need to take to get them back in the game? All but a couple of them are proven, both bucks and does. They aren't too old (oldest is almost 4). I know if they are too fat they won't breed or could have issues if it's successful. I know there are a lot of variables too - feed, light, age, etc. So I'm just looking for some starting points, some brainstorming.

What is your cage set up and what are you feeding? As you mentioned they may have internal fat and need to cut rations or switch to whole grains.
