We lost a yearling yesterday. After a quick necropsy I found that her kidneys and liver were severly damaged. Obviously from being smacked around by the larger goats. I put the yearlings in the adult pen about a week ago and they were getting picked on, but it didn't appear as bad as it actually was. Lesson learned here... when you have horned goats don't bring in new goats unless they are mostly equal in size and can fight back. I hated losing this pretty painted doe (Nubian /Boer). We have lots of goats, but each one came to us with their own story and each one gets a name. I am just posting for FYI. I prefer horned goats over disbudded or did. I am going to have to rethink that opinion.
