A really nice handling method is CameliDynamics by Marty McGee Bennett. It is a great way to interact with your llamas and they will still respect your space.

thanks... I have four young males.. How exactly do you "disipline" an alpaca??

You can do things like put your hand out with palm facing the alpaca and shout "no" to keep them out of your space. If they are really jumping at you or charging you, you can have a frisbee on hand and bop them on the nose (do not wack them as hard as you can). It really depends on the situation. If you don't want them to go somewhere, then you block it off. You don't truly discipline an alpaca as much as divert their attention.

And yes, you should wait until they are closer to 2 years old to geld.
