Margali's Griffin Wood Ranch

Today is completely still wind wise. So I’m getting several piles of debris burned in the home acre.

There are more I need to burn in paddocks. Unfortunately they are too far from my water line so I won’t. I don’t want to risk burn going wrong and getting the subdivision. I will probably have them forestry mulched someday.

Pretty sure the neighbors across the street were pissed I was burning. They were standing in garage door that was open staring my way and gesturing. A little later a City cop squad car drove by slow. I just waved from where I was sitting on my property in the COUNTY with water hose in hand.

Are they transplanted city folk?

No burning was allowed in Connecticut, but if you register online with the fire department it's fine here in NC.

We need burn permits here - but then we are mostly a tinderbox waiting to blow.
Sure sounds like city folk trying to either convert country to burbia / city , or wanna-be country (w/o trying to be country).
We didn't have to get burn permits. All we were supposed to do was notify the fire department. A rancher was upset that he had to get burn permits. He got elected to county board of commissioners and promptly got the requirement for burn permits passed.

Our county doesn't require notification unless you have very large burn going on. The neighbors have been there for decades with this property being empty fields. They are sour since Leo was a pest this spring. They want me to fix fencing but clearing trash trees is annoying. Whatever...
