I found her. RIP Agate
Coyotes found a week spot in my south pasture fence and killed her less than 100ft from the subdivision houses.

They are super bold right now. Husband says another development went in at other end of the creek bulldozing a ton of acres flat. So their run path AND food source just disappeared.

I'm not sure the rest of the herd will be safe here over winter. I feel so defeated.

I'm soooo sorry. The coyotes are especially loud right now. I don't know it its fall coming or what, but they are close. I don't have any herds, and the chickens are in Fort Knox. But my kitties and dogs are vulnerable, which is why I try to keep the cats locked in at night.

Sorry for you losing her... We have a couple of guys here that do night hunting of coyotes... and deer on farms that have kill permits... because we are getting over run with both. Are there no hunting clubs that can come and hunt them? I realize you have a limited amount of land/space... maybe trappers? Maybe contact the extension in your area and see if they have anyone that does it? Bow hunters????

Yes adding more subdivisions just adds to the problem...

I don't know the answer for you... because although we are more rural I think... we are getting crowded with houses/developments and they are pushing the coyote, deer and bear populations. Right next to our biggest lease pasture they used a forestry mulcher and practically "clear cut" at least 50 acres... so we are going to see more bear and deer in with our cattle. Plus that is where we had some calves cornered and killed by coyotes last year... I have been a little concerned but haven't seen too much problem there... There was a bad situation with mange in the bears last year and into this year; and they say that it thinned some of the population... we have seen 2 or 3 over there this year... and there are scads of deer.... so far we seem to be okay with the cattle there.
This pasture, the owner does not allow any hunting... so we are screwed with that... but we talk to the guys with cattle/pastures around there and they all hunt... so we encourage them to kill all they can.... if the coyotes are on "other pasture", weeellllll....shooting them as they "cross the fence" and go over on our side is just part of it....

I’m so sorry. Could you make a strong pen and hot wire it? Children would have to be taught safety. So there’s that.
Get one round bale at a time in the back of the truck? Then there’s the rains and mud issue. I’m no help.

The subdivisions & tree harvests are destroying so much habitat and small animal food sources, the wilds must hunt elsewhere. Makes it hard on many. Deer are foragers, so if I had to choose an interloper that's the one. There are plenty of of those around here!!

I'm sorry.

We have the same situation here, farmland and woodlands, even wetlands, being changed into huge housing developments, cheaply made houses that are overpriced (new builds on less than 1/4 acre that are $300k). Ridiculous.

I've had deer in the yard, hope the new buffer/mowed areas and the fence help keep them from my gardens, but predators don't care about fences. That's why my flocks are confined. We have everything here, coyotes, foxes, raccoons, opossums, hawks, owls, just not bears and big cats, but it wouldn't surprise me at some point if they showed up.

So far extra floods and motion actived lights and inside home acres is working. My new charger and e-net nightpen should be setup tonight in home acre. The coyote chorus at night is crazy loud.
