We rented an apartment very close to train tracks, 1/2 mile, maybe? First night it blew its horn passing through town, at 3am, and we jumped off the bed. Within a week we slept through the horn.

One property we liked in southeast TX had a rail line across the road from it. Trains ran twice a day. Wouldn't have bothered me but DH didnt like the house. Also had a second rent house that was in very bad shape occupied by a long time resident who was disabled. That place and renter were just lawsuits waiting to happen. Although it was 70 acres, good hayfield, and half in woods that we could have run red Spanish goats in for a $$ crop. We are on Highway 154 now and when in the house you can't hear any traffic. There is not actually that much traffic on it (considering it is a highway) except during certain periods of the day and week. Of course, only one lane each way.

I love my daughter but she is weird. Currently watching a Youtube video about parasites that turn insects and other animals into hosts.
TIL a parasite turns snail eye stalks into brood chambers. The poor snail isn't killed immediately just blinded and can live thru several cycles as the brood chambers regenerate.

All information is valuable. You never know when she could come across a blind snail and help it. LOL Many varieties of animal life are parasites living on others. Interesting.
