Hey everyone. I am new to here, and in the near future we are going to start raising sheep goats starting off and eventually get to cattle and become organic and sell the meat to grocery stores and supermarkets. Does anyone know if the meat has to be butchered before it goes to the stores?

Any help is appreciated

You would need to check with your local markets. Some buy whole carcasses and butcher themselves while others don't have butchers on site and only buy packaged products.

Best of luck to you and welcome to BYH!

I know of no chain or local end consumer grocers in my area that buys on the hoof any more. Too much cost and liability involved.
