We have two pastures of alpacas, one for female and one for males. The females are living with boer goats and the males have two great pyrenees. Is it okay to give a mineral block or salt block to either one?

No, you have to be careful of copper. Alpacas can't have all the copper that goats need.

If you want to give them an alpaca specific loose mineral, that is fine. Just not a goat mineral.

I was told alpacas can't lick mineral blocks. they are running with an orphan foal and a mini-donkey. There is a mineral block in there and loose minerals for the alpacas. I did see one of the alpacas licking the mineral block... is that a problem???
I would guess there is at least some copper in it

The alpacas will probably leave the mineral block alone. Mine don't touch the horses mineral block, although they could reach it if they want to. I'd really recommend the Stillwater Minerals for your alpacas. Our breeder recommended it & we always have it available free choice for our females.
