Mini mule

Another question if i may...
Right now he is without another herd conpanion. Just me, my husband, our retreiver dog, and 8 chickens. lol. Will he be ok for a while without another of his kind? We will be getting him castrated as soon as the vet says we can.
She will be here in 2 weeks for a check up and his first shots. Thank you in advance.

I think you're ok. At this point if you would get him a companion he may be less inclined to tame up to you.
I'm sure others here will have more thoughts on that.

It is OK for him not to have a playmate. If he is lonely, he will be glad to see you, especially if you have feed. And once you halter him, scratches! I had a mule that loved having her butt scratched, next to her tail. Her way of asking for scratches was to back up and bump me gently. A new person would make her stand off, away until she studied on them for a bit. When she thought they were ok, she would circle around to approach them from behind. She would back up and gently bump them. This of course scared people to death, thinking they were about to be kicked by a mule. Nah, I'd assure them, she just decided that you are good enough to scratch a mule's butt.

Best scratchie spots on my horses & my cow:
Top of neck
Whithers to middle of back
All around top of tail
Chest between front legs
"arm pits"
Midline along belly
Inside of thigh all the way up to belly
.... pretty much all the spots that are hard for them to reach in their own
