I have a grown up farm pond and was considering a few goats to keep it clean along the bank. What is the concern with them watering from the pond? Water is shallow along shoreline.

Parasites, namely lungworms and liver flukes. Mosquitoes as well.

Hey there @hedgesjd :frowGreetings and welcome to BYH! Glad you joined the discussion! Not sure what part of the country you're in. (pretty sure it's NOT down south since you state no alligators...) But if you lived in south FL, snakes can be an issue as well since they have a huge problem with invasive pythons that can easily take a goat. But if you have poisonous snakes where you're at, a goat could surprise one and get bitten. There's a wealth of info on goats over in the goat section and a lot of active goat folks on the forum. Browse around a bit and make yourself at home!
