Ordered a fleshing knife & alum, then bought 100# of salt from the store.
Sure hope I'll be able to make use of most of the bull....
Tanning his hide, cleaning his skull and horns, meat for our freezer, other meat, organs and bones for the dogs.
I've only ever tanned rabbits & one newborn lamb, so, this is going to be quite the project!
Cleaning bones is fairly easy, though.

I had a fleshing knife when I did my lamb hide earlier this year. Worked like crap. I ended up using my good boning knife - super sharp worked like a charm. Good luck - that a big hide to work on.

I bought a new butchering knife in case I need it. I don't like long, thin knives.

Haven't tried proper fleshing knives before.

Well, butcher is supposed to be here, but tractor tire is fully dead. DH bought a compressor, it's so slow and low pressure. Idk if I'll be able to fill this mofo in time....

Okay, 1.5hrs and I had a mini tantrum, then googled for more options.
Drowned the mofo in dish soap and ta-da!! ️
Insane.
Butcher is on his way.

Well, that was absolute hell...
I lost count at 10, at him jumping over fences at 6.
I don't know how much I have to fix up just yet, sitting in tractor, waiting to hoist him up again.
I'm already sad. The first of every species is the hardest.
I wonder how bad the meat will be from so much stress....
