i am getting my pens and pasture ready to get my pigs this spring.i will be a newbie with pigs and have been doing some reading.wanted to get some more info if possible.
my plans for the pigs are :
around 4 adults
butcher a couple of offspring and sell the rest.
general purpose meat-mainly for my freezer
they will be rotated on pasture-2 small pastures
must be friendly-family farm
climate is very hot summers and mild/cold winters.no snow

here is what i came up with
GOS
guinea hogs-i like their small size but may need more pigs?
large black
spotted

any advice is greatly appreciated :)
thank you

Nice to see you have Large Blacks on the list - if you have enough grass they will graze instead of rooting but the big plus for you with L Bs is no sunburn, very docile (even the boars) and wonderful meat esp the bacon. Hard to find good bloodlines and demand is going up for these guys. Good luck
