Hello homesteaders! I am trying to convince my mama about me buying a buck or two...I raise Nigerian Dwarf and Boer goats for my 4H and FFA projects, I told my moms tons of pros and cons and she is starting to get convinced but she said she wants a cost comparison on owning my own buck and renting a buck out..she is wondering if owning a buck will cost more then just renting a buck...also for feed wise on feeding them, and the cost of feed...I only own 2 does(1 nigie and 1 Boer doe) and I buy 1 bale of alfalfa hay that lasts me a month or so. Do they eat more than they does or less? also, what do I need to feed them? If any of you could provide information on the full cost of owning a buck or 2, that would be helpful thank you!

Truly, the money part is not the issue. Separate quarters and fencing is a greater concern. With only one doe of each breed, you should certainly consider going with taking your does TO a buck for the day or even AI if available in your area.

Possibly contact seller of your does for buck service.

For only 2 does.. and with those 2 does being different sizes and breeds....

I think buck service would be a better option.

I have gotten my does serviced for only $50, clean buck.
