Violet calved on her due date, early - very early - Friday morning. On Thursday her pins were gone although she was still acting normal. I checked her at 8:00pm (on Thursday) and she was isolated from the other cows. I checked again an hour later, and she had moved to the center of the field but was still by herself.
We set an alarm and got up at 12:45am, and hooves were showing! She delivered a healthy little (but thick!) bull calf scarcely 45 minutes later. He is 1/2 Dutch Belted 1/2 Randall. We're thinking about keeping him intact and breeding him to a couple of our cows next year - we will see!

He is unnamed as of yet. Thinking Beauregarde (Beaure for short), as his mama's name is Violet. :)
