My name is Laurence, I just wanted to introduce myself to everyone out there. I have always loved animals, but have never had the space required. About a year ago, I was lucky enough to be able to purchase a small home for my family(wife and 2 young adult sons) with ~5 acres of land. Not a lot, but enough to get started. My little homestead has the obligatory vegetable garden, and lazy housecat. As far as animals, I currently have:

4 Potbelly Pigs
2 Jumbo Pekin Ducks
1 breeding pair of Castor Rex Rabbits (with 5 kits that are a week old)
1 breeding pair of Silver Fox Rabbits
4 misc Meat Mutts (2 bucks and 2 does)
14 Laying hens (Americauna, Brown Leghorn, Cuckoo Maran)
4 Roosters (One Cuckoo Maran, Two Americauna, and One Brown Leghorn)
5 Barnyard mix of the above breeds ( + 1 Cuckoo Maran x Cornish Cross)
2 Longhair Guinea Pigs (inside pets)

Nothing to all that in a year is a big undertaking, considering the infrastructure was not in place. We had to build fencing/coops/cages/etc.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the farm. It is a lot of work to build the needed infrastructure, but you look back and can be proud of your accomplishments. Glad to have you join the forum!
