Overrun with beasties
In the past few days we took in a pair of mini-horses, Mother and daughter. Mother is 36", 250 lbs and the daughter is 31" 200 lbs.
They are very attached to each other. From what we learned they were bought from an elderly lady who had them running around on an 100 acre farm. The lady was beginning to work with them when she fell ill and could no longer care for them. That's were we stepped in to socialize them.
We got them home and placed them in a stall for two days. We only had one stall to use and it afforded us a chance to see how they reacted.
The mother will be easier to handle and socialize again but the daughter is a brat. If given the opportunity she will bite you and if you get near and try to touch her halter she will kick you.
This pair is our first horses and before we took them in we asked a whole bunch of questions from other horse people and everybody had different opinions.
It's these opinions we are relying on including any research on them we can find on the web. I would appreciate any helpful tips you may have to ease them back to people and mini-horse society.
Thanks,
bob
The brat: Rainey
The Mother: Misty
