Hi everyone. I am new to this site and also a proud owner of two new weaner piglets. I would like some advice on the following scenario please:

I picked up my new piglets yesterday. They are 2 months old and approximately 40 pounds each. I introduced them to their new home. Of course they were a bit hesitant to leave the dog crate I transferred them in but after about 5 minutes the first girl ventured out and started exploring. The second gilt stayed put and I eventually had to pull out the tray she was laying on and then she joined her pen mate. It was raining heavily and continued to do so throughout the afternoon and all night long. They retreated to their new pig shelter and burrowed into the bedding. I checked on them several times yesterday. Now this morning I go out and it is still damp and miserable but not raining like yesterday. Pig number 1 is out rooting around, Pig 2 is still laying in the shelter. I showed them again where the pig food is and added some vegetable matter from the kitchen. Pig 1 is more interested in rooting but I did catch her eating (altho not voraciously). Pig 2 I haven't seen eat at all. Because I am new to this, I just want to make sure I'm doing things correctly. Is this not eating thing a sign of stress from leaving their Mum and home, is the listlessness due to the same thing? They are wormed, needled and all of that and look hearty (to my non-experienced eye)...but I'm uncomfortable with the laying around thing in Pig 2.

Thank you for reading my topic. I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who could direct me on this.

If they are just weaned, and because you just interduced them to their new home, she is stressed and PROBABLY will be fine in 1-3 days! I wouldn't worry about it too much right now, they usually pull out of the sulking by the second day, sometimes a little longer!!!
Have fun with your piggys!!!!! ;)

Oh good and thank you. I've had goats and sheep but never piggies and I'm just being an over-protective mum I guess...gotta worry.
