Welcome to BackYardCows first newsletter!

In the past five months many great things have happened. First, BackYardCows was brought to life. What started out as a prank on April Fool's Day 2 years ago at BackYardChickens is now a full fledged website where you can discuss everything cow! We are so excited to see 167 registered users! You can read more about the BYC prank here: http://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=2213&p=1

Secondly, many threads and "my pages" of info have been added. We have an index to many of the basic informational threads and "my pages": http://www.backyardherds.com/web/viewblog.php?id=5-index-page .

Some of the things you will find are:

A challenge to all members is to put your state in the location spot in your profile. There are many questions, especially winter feeding, that the answer will vary depending on your climate where your located.

Remember, there is no such thing as a dumb question! We all at one point or another were newbies and had to learn how to care for our cattle. Now it's time for those of us with experience to share and help others new to cattle.

And one last, but VERY important item: A huge thanks to Farmer Kitty for accepting the call to be a moderator. Nifty is (as you can imagine) very busy and BYCows wouldn't be half of what it is today without all her hard work and diligence, most of which is behind the scenes.

We'll see you in the forum!
