I have a 3 month old Nubian buckling who was weaned at 8 weeks. We have noticed a large lump around the area where the neck meets the chin. It is soft, not hard. He doesnt seem to be sick or anything, he acts normal. Could it be a milk goiter? Is it possible that this could occur with a kid that has already been weaned? Will it go away on its own? Also, he was bottle fed as a baby with milk replacer. Could it maybe be iodine deficiency? If so, how would I treat it? Could it be CL? Swelling from CL are usually hard and dont get that large though, correct?

This could be an iodine deficiency goiter. Paint some iodine on his tail, where there is no hair. See if you have improvement in the am. I've had iodine goiters twice here. Painted the tails and the goiter was almost gone the next day. I just make sure that I put out iodized salt from time to time for the goats. No problem since.
