Let’s be honest… we all approach our herds a little differently.

Some of us have color-coded feed charts and backup mineral tubs stored “just in case.” Others believe in reading the animals first and the manual second. Some are constantly building something new, while a few of you have been doing this so long you can spot trouble before it even thinks about showing up.

There’s no right or wrong here — just different styles that make this community interesting.

Do you think your style has changed over time? For example, did you start as a Researcher and become a Learn-As-You-Go type? Or did experience turn you into a Planner?

Let’s see which herd-keeper personality dominates BYH! Let’s have some fun 👇

All of the above. plus some you didn't list

Throw it at the wall and see if it sticks.
Go dumpster diving for building materials.
Organize, organize, organize, then throw it all out the window and do something different.
Make a detailed list, then lose it.
Study genetics, make breeding list, then the ram gets loose and blows it.

Most of all, I read and studied BYH. I found BYH I think 5 YEARS before we actually moved and I could finally get my sheep. In the meantime I read past posts for both goats and sheep, discovered HAIR sheep and never looked back. I asked questions, I read some more, I took it one section at a time, reading and learning. The kind people here on BYH were awesome when I did get my sheep, helping me along the way, with tons of advice.
