Hi All. My name is Antoinette I am 47 years old, and managing all our farm animals with some additional Game Animals. It is super fun, and sometimes super hard. I live in South Africa next to the Outeniqua Mountains overlooking the ocean. Lets chat.

Welcome from east Texas! I’m delighted to make your acquaintance. Your farm sounds lovely. What farm animals do you have and what game animals?

We live on 8 acres. I raise Katahdin hair sheep, have 3 horses, chickens, 3 hogs that go to slaughter August 17, and 5 Livestock Guard dogs. We are retired and having a great time.

Hi again. We have plenty of Roan's, Sable Antelope, Kudu, Springbok, Zebra and Blue Duiker and Ostriches, Waterbuck, European Bush Pigs. Then when it comes to the ordinary farm animals. We have lots of Landras Pigs, Saanan Milk Goats, 120 or so Boer Goats, Xhosa Lob ear goats. We have Percy Sheep and a large herd of Meatmaster Sheep bred for meatproduction. We have 100 head of Stud Bonsmara Cattle. And then we have our Jersey Cow Orphan Program, where we adopt little bulls from milk farms and raise them. We have lots of turkeys, Chickens and Peacocks. We also have a strong line of Weimeraner breeding dogs that we love. With the odd sheep dog and sausage dog in the mix. I hope I dint forget anybody. Its my duty to make sure that they are all happy and healthy every day. Running a Cattle feedlot and Sheep feedlot. Never a dull moment.

Is your place high wired fenced to keep them all in and predators out? How many acres do you have? Is it you and your husband that takes care of the farm?

I would LOVE to see pictures! Never heard of Landras pigs, Xhosa Lob Eared goats or Percy Sheep. Never heard of Bonsmara cattle either. I love learning about other animal breeds in other countries. Thank you for joining BYH! We can exchange ideas, information and pictures. Ask any questions you like, we are a diverse bunch of people, but we all share a love of our animals.

That Bull is impressive, reminds me of the Santa Gertrudis cattle developed by the King Ranch in south Texas.

The piglets are striped, must be a primitive breed like the Manglitsa hog. Got pictures of the adults? The piggies are cute!

Zebras! Do you sell them?

Love the spotty goats. Here we call that pattern Moon Spots. I’m guessing those are Boers.

Is that a Percy sheep? Hair sheep?

Looks like a full fledged ZOO.... wonderful diversity. I had heard of Bonsmara cattle. My son and I have mostly beef cattle here... the majority are black angus, some charolais, and herefords and crossbreds. I have one Longhorn cow because I like her, and have some Jersey dairy cows that I use to raise baby calves on.... graft the calves on when the cow freshens with her own calf so she raises 2 to 4 . I also have milked for the house but have taken off the last year and this next year ...had my ankle replaced in Feb 2020, and my knees will be done this late October.

We have some White Texas Dall sheep, they look similar to Bighorn sheep that are in the mountains... have raised several breeds of hogs... Duroc and Hampshire and Berkshires..... and have some purebred chickens for eggs and show. And raise lots of the cornish cross for meat chickens.
I raise the jersey bull calves for meat... have one going in the freezer in late August.

Love your pictures.
