Hey all,
We are keeping an 8 year old Nigerian for the winter.
Her owner told us there was a possibility that she was pregnant and would *probably* be due in February if she was.
About 2 weeks ago I went up to the barn and she had a small (but significant) amount of brownish mucous hanging from her vulva.

My main question is this:
Is that kind of discharge a clear indicator of pregnancy, or do does sometimes just have that happen?

My other question is.....what do your does' udders look like when they are dry?
She does have a small udder but she has kidded before, so do they stay semi- filled out after a few pregnancies?
Our doeling is only 7 months so we have nothing to compare her with.
It's driving me crazy because I'm so ready for some babies!!

She could have lost her mucus plug which can happen right before kidding or a month before kidding

Or if not pregnant a small amount of mucus can mean she was in heat

My mature does who are dry you can still see a little udder

Although we have one doe that dries up so well, it is nearly impossible to tell she's kidded before. That will probably change as she gets older.

Some does don't get an udder built up until they kid, or even after kidding.

Check her ligs and just watch her :)

Have you given her a CDT yet?
