Hi all! So this is our first year with goats.. This girl was with a buck for a short time before he was banded. When we saw he could extend we banded him.. However, I do know we found out she was in heat the day he got banded... It’s day 138 from the time we found she was in heat and he was banded... Do y’all think she just looks like she enjoyed her grass or does it look like she could be pregnant. I’m completely new to this so please be kind, and forgive my ignorance on this subject.

Goats carry 150-155 days on average. Is she showing any udder development? At this point she generally would. I didn't see that in your pics which makes me say, while she certainly could be pregnant, my guess would be not. Now, I'll add this....the sperm he had in there before banding doesn't die the day you band! Sooooo, it could be 3 weeks later that they mated again. Sperm has been found to live up to 5 weeks in some animals. In that case....need I say more?

She does have a lovely bump on that side. Could be grass or. Many young FF does will have a single. If she starts to bag very soon, you can get ready for a youngin. Some males will do the deed and not have live sperm when young...it's a toss up. And some young does may show heat and not drop an egg. Of course, if you did not want her pregnant, odds are good she is. They make us crazy!!!

Hope that helps at least know what to look for and when. ;) Let us know.

Eh...even in person i often can't tell...

I would just feel her ligaments every day until about a week past the latest possible kidding date.

The ligaments softening up is the only sure fired way I have found to know if they will give birth.

Hi and :welcome

I hope you will come back and let us know if she kids in the next few weeks. Or as @Mini Horses implied, maybe she will kid 3-5 weeks later than you expect.

Btw, how old is your doe? I assume you banded the wether because you wanted to avoid her getting pregnant? :fl I hope everything works out how you want it to!
