Hello all! I will start by saying I am very thankful for this wonderful community, and appreciate all help!

I just bought this Nigerian Dwarf doe, Connie, who is pregnant and due in May. She is very sweet, but skittish and shy and extremely gentle.

I have a small herd of only two other goats, one more Nigerian dwarf doe (only eight months old, weighs about 40 pounds) and another dwarf wether.

She is getting bullied by my other doe quite badly, with lots of ear nipping, pouncing, and head butting. Connie is extremely gentle and never fights back, just hides in the corner.

My question is, should I leave her with the herd, or separate her? At this moment I have her in a different pen. If she wasn’t pregnant I would just let them work it out as long as it didn’t get worse, but I don’t want to jeopardize the babies safety.

Thank you for all help!

First I'm not a goat person - so I could be way off base. I'd keep them separated for awhile so they could get used to each other with the "protection" of a fence. When I bring in new sheep it's a few weeks before they are all together for health and safety reasons.

Right answer...fence protection until used to one another. Then there may be a little conflict but, not for long. Hint -- when I buy a goat, especially if beyond a couple months & I have others that age, I try to buy their friend also. It helps to have a friend to bed with. 😊. Can't always do but, if I can, I will.
