Happy 13th birthday to Freyja!

Her boys are doing well. Interestingly, the darker one, Cornelius, drinks almost exclusively from the bucket. I don’t seem him nursing from Freyja very often and the lighter boy (no name yet) mainly nurses from Freyja, but also enjoys a snack from the bucket. Both boys are a decent size, but Cornelius is much bigger now. The other one isn’t scrawny or stunted looking though so I’m going to leave him be.

Edith had a big udder change on Sunday which prompted me penning her up on Monday.

This may not look impressive, but that is at least double what it was the day before.

This was her udder when I got out to the barn this morning. 😱

Her belly has dropped and sides are hollow.

She does seem to be in active labor now so unless she’s playing an April fool’s day joke on me, I think we’ll be seeing baby/ies (probably just 1) soon.

My PCP’s office submitted the request for the MRI to my insurance yesterday, but the office girl called me to say there was a good chance that they were going to deny it and would want me to do X number of weeks of PT to “prove” that I actually need an MRI. I told her that I would absolutely not being paying for weeks of PT just to be in more pain and further delay the MRI. I’ve done PT and it has done nothing to help. She said cool, let’s submit the request and see want happens.

She called me back this morning to say that it was approved by insurance, but when she called to schedule it, the hospital told her I can’t have a MRI because I “have metal in body”. That’s news to me. I probably have a couple surgical clips in my left renal artery, but they’re non-magnetic metal and I’ve had at least 2 MRIs since they were put in. Our best guess is that I was flagged because of the stent I had placed after my kidney stone a few years ago even though it was removed after 10 days.

Anyway, she called them back after she talked to me and got me an appointment for 5/4 😕. She did say that was closest appointment if I wanted to stay in town, but if I wanted to go a little farther away, I could get in sooner. The other place is only 30 mins away so I said that was fine if I could get in faster. She was able to get me an appointment there for 4/22.

Here’s hoping I actually get answers.
