I have a 18 day old Nigerian Dwarf buckling that only has 1 testicle descended. If I understand correctly, they should both be there at birth.
Is this carried paternal, maternal, or either parent can be a carrier? If either, is there an easy way to determine if mom or dad is the carrier? Dad is a new young buck we purchased last summer. Mom is a FF. Both her mom and sister had bucklings last year (different buck) with no issues.
What about this bucklings sister? Can she be a carrier? Should she be sold as a pet only?
I have one other doe bred to this buck for April kids.
Any insight anyone could give me would be great. Thanks!

Its genetic yes. Id give him longer to be sure that it doesn't decend in time. But there is no way to tell on the dams side if it was passed through her. What about your new buck? Does he have both decended?
