Spent the entire day trying to finish packing but instead had to keep stopping to help DH load the truck and trailer. A job that wud have taken him 1 day 20 years ago takes us 2 days now. Still, pretty good for being in our prime. DH is much primer than I am.

DH kept saying that we had plenty of room in the trailer. Now he says he is nit sure if he had room for the final small boxes. Unfortunately, the final boxes are important stuff like the computers, etc. They MUST go on the trailer. Got 2 large styrofoam coolers packed with more frozen food. Didnt get everything but will have to buy a second freezer probably. Will also need a new fridge since I packed anither medium size cooler with the refrigeration needed vaccines and antibiotics. I packed some of the meds that I had in the fridge in a box - they didn't need refrigeration, but I keep them in the laundry room fridge. I asked DS1 to plug in the apartment size fridge that went back on the last load so I can put the meds in it. :fl Hope they fit, one drawer in the house fridge in Texas already is stuffed with vaccines and antibiotics. It is a small fridge and we need a larger one to avoid shopping every few days.

Made tuna salad for sandwiches on the road. Tomorrow I will make the sandwiches, load that cooler, and pack up my computer. Then we are off to Texas.

DD1 called DH this evening compainng that we had not told her we were leaving tomorrow. He said he had told her several times but she ony hears what she wants to hear. Then she started yelling at him about our move and she hung up on him. We were s tired we didn;t care. She cme over as I was packing DH's computer and started in on her Daddy. They were shiutng at each other. The grandkids came in to say goodbye. Then she came in and wanted to know if i ws going to come talk to her or just keep working. I said it depended on whether she planned to shout at me or not. She said she probably would shout at me so I kept working. There were several unpleasant exchanges between her and DH. Then she said she would see us at Christmas and I told her that we would be in Texas. Another big blow up! Then she started crying. 47 years old and a tantrum like a 2 year old! I know that she does not like change, and is upset about us not being here for Christmas but I was so tired that I just tuned it out. She knew that we would not be here since I had told her I was doing my shopping now for that reason! She was so upset I finally told her that it was not like we were dead! She is not happy about not having us near her. We have told her we were going and when but it is like talking to a brick wall. She just doesn't hear anything she doesn;t want to hear. :he

Anyway, we will be on the road tomorrow around 10-11 am.

I’m so sorry your DD1is taking your move so badly. She’s had 3 years to deal with it. She has watched the whole process and witnessed y’all hauling load after load to Texas. NOW she is upset because y’all are leaving? Time to put on her big girl panties and grow up.

Yall be careful on the road. ❤️

Be careful and have a safe trip. It is past time for her to grow up and have a life... not let momma and daddy be her constant fall back on plan.
YOU both need a break from "always being there"... have quieter and more peaceful prime years, without all the noise and stress and drama...

Wow, what a way for her to be right before you leave. Sheesh. Between being tired and trying to get the last stuff loaded up your response was priceless and perfect. Sad it happened though - but it does sort of say you are definitely making the choice (no final regrets) on the TX move.
You all are probably already on the road as I sip my coffee. Travel safe, breathe easy and smile - your paradise awaits.

I know you probably already have second fridge, but I like these for my goat meds and all the garden/micorgreen seeds I have. It allows me to see what I have without opening the fridge. They seem to hold the temp well and the temp setting is fairly accurate. I am not a big fan of this vendor, but I do wait for them to get used ones in and purchase those vs new.

Also got one of these for a neighbor's small shop. Along with all the other shelf stable products, they sell fresh eggs and whipped honey. They used to have these products in a regular fridge, now that the have one with a window and people can see what is inside, their sales have gone way up plus they were able to get rid of that large fridge. More sales, smaller foot print and lower electric consumption. (Still great for meds and seeds! ;))

On the road for 3 days. Arrived tonight just at sundown. Colors in picture are more washed out than the sunset actually was. Nice welcome home.
PXL_20241119_234942782.jpg All 3 dogs were waiting to welcome us home. Those sweet puppies! We will have to carefully introduce Hazine to them. We will put her in with the rams and gradually introduce the others to her in "her" pen on lead. She s already 8 months od. I really wish after the disastrous lambing and transport that we had just taken her hoe to California and waited to move the sheep till this year. On the other hand, 6 months of alfalfa at $20-30/bale, feeding 2 bales per day would have been close to $20,000 in feed! :thOn the debit side we lost 10 lambs, 1 ram and 1 ewe, but on the plus side we saved $20,000 in feed, still have 15 ewe lmbs and 4 ram lambs to sell, and Hazine got 8 months of training from Erick! :weee So other than 6 months of mssing my sheep and dogs, it is all good.

We spent 2 nights on the road - days are shorter and the trk lights are not as good as they should be There is no way to enhance them, we have tried and even replaced them but they don't give good light. We have to drive with the brights on to get a good distance in the road. Plus DH was exhaustd after 3 days loading the truck and trailer. He feels bad abut it and kept saying that 20 yers ago he could have loaded the entire thing in one day. Now he loads and has to sit down for a while. Poor DH, I told him that both of us were half the people we used to be - except in girth, then we are twice the people we used to be!

We are taking it easy tonight and will unload the trailer and truck tomorrow. We did unload the meds into the tiny fridge, and the coolers into the new freezer. It did arrive this morning and was cold by the time we arrived. Tomorrow I will transfer the frozen stuff frm the renta freezer int the new freezer and DS1 can return it to the rental comany. If we don't get the entire trailer unloaded tomorrow, DS1 said he will do it on the 21st while DH and I take the tractor to the Farmtrac shop. DS1 found a rental place that has a flatbed trailer with ramps in Sulphur Springs and reserved it for 11/21. Since it is a 2 day rental, we will pick it up on the 21st, bring it home, load the tractor and leave for to Cleveland, TX, which is just north of Houston. Then we will head west to Leander (just northwest of Austin) to see Erick and pick up Hazine. While the tractor is in the Farmtrac shop we will have them to a complete tune up on the engine and fix the transmission gear stick. No need to buy a new or newer used tractor! :bow

As to DD1, it is a shame, but she does not adjust to change well at all. I feel sorry for her, but there is not much I can do for her other than love her. When DGS1 goes off to college next year, she will have a hard time with that too.

It was dark when we finally were able to get out and see some of the stuff that DS1 wanted us to look at. I did see the new tub surround tile in the bathroom and it looks lovely. The house is still crowded with boxes of paintings that need to go on the walls and I have decided to send the lovely decorator chair and ottoman back to California. Or maybe I will ask DD2 if she wants it. It is in new condition and really nice looking, however the seat is too long for me and makes it uncomfortable unless I use the ottoman and stretch out like a recliner. Even DS1 said it s uncomfortable to sit in for him. Now that we have the 2 recliners here, there isn't enough room in the living room for the loveseats, 2 recliners, and that chair anyway.

Tomorrow I will go out with DS1 and see what he has done with the fencing. He has moved fences around to give the rams a much larger grazing area. He will finish clearing out the side barn and DH can use Baby 'Bota to level off the ground in there ready to set up the jugs.

Anyway, finally home in Texas. 🎉🎆🎆🎆
