I don't care much about football, but always watch the super bowl. I won't watch this year, the halftime show is some dress wearing weirdo from Puerto Rico called Bad Bunny and he says all the songs will be in Spanish. That is not entertainment for me so I just won't watch the game at all. The super bowl is an American game and we speak English here, that and I'm tired of all the entertainment that is chosen for us peons to watch. How about some country music? Nope. We must have a dress wearing wacko singing in Spanish, some guy that I've never even heard of and don't give a darn about. The NFL can shove it where the sun don't shine.

I never watched football, not even the Stooper Bowl until my Dad came to stay with us, about 2019. Ron picked up the football habit in his last couple years, so I suffered quietly.

The only sports I watch are thoroughbred horse racing, and UConn basketball. And those in limited doses.

Tomorrow is supposed to be the first day of really bad wether coming. Rain tomorrow, then dry on Thurday with heavy snow predicted for Friday. Temps in the teens for the next week. Mild snow, sleet and rain on Saturday and Sunday.

DS is making plans to run more electric lines in the barn for water de-icers, and a couple more heat lambs. Also running extension cords to de-icers in 2 pastures. The new rams arrive on Thursday and we have decided to put them in the jugs in the barn so we can feed and water everyone easily. Also keep an eye on the rams and get them used to us.

BL16 was acting sick on Sunday night. She was not interestd in eating even grain. Monday morning she was laying in the sun by the hay feeder but looking depressed and when I went to her she had watery diarrhea. Her lambs had full tummies so at least she was feeding them. We moved her into a jug and I gave her Pepto Bismol and Penicillin. She got the stemmy stalks of the alfalfa from the creep feeder and no grain. Tonight she looks and acts fully recovered and wasinterested in eating. We continued to give her only the stalks from the alfalfa. I think she can go out tomorrow. She may have gotten a grain overload by being piggy at the trough when we fed the ewes. We added another grain feeder but I put the same amount into each of 3 buckets that I was putting into each of the 2 buckets so they got a lot more one night. I have adjusted the amount down.

I went to Atwoods and TSC today looking for sweet feed. Noe to be had! Remember when "sweet feed" was a grain mix sticky with molasses? Now it is all an extruded pellet. The fellow at TSC said they had some pelleted feed mixed with grain that was sticky. I bought a bg so we will see. I was able to get some rolled oats and will mix that with the corn and some of the feed and spray on some molasses water to make it sticky. Then I will use the lye mixture to mix into it. Hopefully the corn and oats will keep the pellets from melting. I need to go back on Poopa's site and get the dosage of how much lye treated feed per ewe. The lye and strainers (for the wood ash to add to the mineral and salt) arrive tomorrow. Hope it works. :fl Really begining to wonder if the deletion of copper from sheep feed is causing our sheep to be more susceptible to worms. I remember when there was a big scare in CA about copper deficiency in dairy goats. Everyone was blaming every problem they had (and some problems they didn't have) on so called "copper deficiency". I lost a kid and everyone said "Oh no! Copper deficiency!" I drove 2 hours to have the kid autopsied - no copper deficiency. Group hysteria. After that I didn't worry - after all I was feeding a good dairy cow grain. LOL

The twins are eating fine and gaining weight and size on 2 12 ounce bottles a day. I think 8111 is just not producing enough milk for both of them but they are getting mik from her as well. I noticed a nice looking ram lamb the other day and checked his number. He is out of 7088 and I love that ewe. She is a Grade 5, older, great bloodlines, and consistently produces twins with no problems and raises them. My first ewe and just a wonderful girl. We will have to band him and then cut the tail off below the band. That is the way the South Africans do it. They say that cutting the tail off after banding allows the blood to escape so the tail dries up faster and without any infection. Collette did that with Junior at 3 months old and he was fine.

I am really happy with this group of lambs. Now I just have to concentrate on keeping them alive.
