SageHill Ranch Journal

Spinning can be calming. I have been told this - it was not calming for me since I had trouble spinning make uniform yarn. (Craft yarn - remember? LOL Big lumpy craft yarn to boot! ) but I stuck to it until I could actually spin some acceptable yarn by the time the class ended. DH was a better spinner than I was and I have some of his spun wool yarn from our Dorsets.

I had 4 Dorset fleeces processed to spin. Dorset wool is a coarser wool and is easier to spin than some of the purchased fibers the teacher passed out. I was able to produce an acceptable yarn from the Dorset wool. I figured at the rate I was learning it would take my the rest of my life to learn to spin properly so a year aftr the class I gave away all my rovings.

Do I admire those other class members who spun so beautifully? YES. Do I regret never learning to spin properly? NO.
I have filed it in the box of "Things Ridgetop Cannot Do Properly" along with alligator wrestling, big game hunting, Yoga, and beating DH at cribbage. LOL

Happy Easter. It's been a great weekend. Nephew in AZ got engaged to a wonderful sweet girl (wedding next May). DGS Kit's first Easter - always great when he's here. We had an amazing dinner - leg of lamb (of course :)) with a rub of homegrown rosemary, garlic, dijon, splash of white wine and fig balsamic - and of course salt and pepper. OH SO GOOD. DDIL made a lemon cake with a passionfruit glaze (their lemons and passion fruit) and I paired that up with homemade strawberry ice cream and a passion fruit, guava and orange ice cream (our passion fruit and a friend's oranges). WOW sooo good all together. Fantastic dinner and fantastic family time. Best Easter Ever.
