I have 4 acres of hilly land, I would like to start seeding it more for my goats to browse.... thing is I live in southern california... its pretty hot and dry here, we have a mixture of really loose sandy soil to clay dry soil, what kind of seeds can I plant? Also where is a good place to get these seeds :)

We also have lawn, we stopped mowing it since the chickens and goats are actually keeping it down, we're thinking about adding some clovers to it and perhaps other things..maybe alfalfa? Lol I have no idea what I'm doing so I'm asking for suggestions :p

Look around in the ditches and other areas that are natural. See what is growing there and that is what is hardy to your area.

As for where to find it, some local farm supply stores may have seed, feed mills (if any around), or local seed dealers.

Your local extention office would also have an idea as to what grows well in your area and where you can find seed.
