Do you find the hand shears hard to use? I have looked at those (since I still don't have electric at the barn), but they are sooooo sharp, they worry me. Does it make a difference whether you do them standing up, or in the traditional way of on their butt/laying down?

wow, that is so cool! She looks so happy to be loosing that heavy coat. It appears she's even moving her head all by herself to assist you and make it easier to get to those hard to reach areas. Can you breed that in to future generations?

I don't find the hand shears hard at all. I do all my shearing with them. My sister uses electrics, but I have had a shoulder problem for a number of years and have found the electrics aggravate my shoulder too much.

We both shear with the sheep standing on a fitting or milking stand. They take a little longer to shear, but fewer pulled backs are involved.
