Our mama rabbit is losing fur, particularly on her face. This is our first spring with meat rabbits, so I wasn't sure if I should be concerned about mites, fleas, or some skin issue ... or if this is normal shedding this time of year?

She doesn't appear to be itchy and I don't see any scabs or flakes -- just fur loss, mostly on her face. Right now she has 2 babies in with her (getting moved to grow-out cages this weekend) and neither of them have any issues or fur loss, nor do the rabbits in cages adjacent to this one.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

I would check her ears for ear mites. We had a doe that had ear mites and it caused her to loose some hair on her face and behind her ears.

Her babies are a little past weaning age (9 wks) so perhaps they're the problem? I'm going to move them out tonight rather than waiting till the weekend, I think. Just in case.

Will check her ears also. Thanks for the suggestion.

It sounds like you got some good responses. If the two young bunnies have no issues, I wouldn't think it was mites, but how long does it take to look, right?
I have never had bunnies over groom their mom before because mine are in grow-out pens by 5or 6weeks, but that does sound like what you have going on.
