Hi, I'm a new goat owner (almost 2 years). This lesion appeared on one of my Oberhasli does about 10 days ago. At first, I thought it was an abrasion, but it appears to be spreading. Does anyone know what it is and how it's treated? How panicked should I be? Likely not relevant, but she is 10 weeks pregnant.

I have no clue really but I do know that one very common cause of skin eruptions on goats is staph. Is is bleeding like that on its own or did you scrape off a scab? I treat staph infections with Hibiclens wash, but if it is spreading I would consult a vet.

Their resistance to infections is lower when bred, part of natures way of making sure that their body does not see the fetus as something to attack.

Thanks, I'll try the Hibiclens until I can get her seen by a vet. The lesion is bleeding on it's own. I shaved around it so that I could assess it and clean it.
