To mess up your sleep and make everyone grumpy so they don't pay attention to what's going on around them. That's my theory anyway.

It plays havoc with people / animals on certain medications too. Some things need to be so exact and to throw it off by an hour can be a big deal. I agree with you all. But it's even more of a pain when you forget to adjust your clocks and are late / early for things (depending on Spring or Fall).
