String method?

I was reading a thread and it touched on a subject about how to find out how much your hog weighs using a string method. I tried to search the topic but could not find any thing. Does anyone know about this and how it is done? Thanks Karl

My recollection was that it wasn't particularly accurate.

They have weight tapes for calves and bigger bovines as well, and instructions on how do do it with a regular 'dressmaker's tape'. They get you 'in the ballpark' as far as weight goes, but certainly not real accurate. Same premise as the instructions on the aforementioned post.

I did it and found that is was pretty close, the pig weighed more than I thought.
