So.. sugarcubes. The classic horse treat! But are they good for horses? Do most horses like them? Does it give them more energy just like a kid on a sugar rush? Also, what would be the limit per day? Thanks, DOG

If you want to give a horse a treat, think more natural like Carrots or apples. They are better for the horse then sugar cubes.

I haven't ever given sugar cubes, but I do give peppermints every now and then. Mostly when I am about to work them or have just worked them, and for good reason. Like you say, (especially with my 7year old gelding) it make them hyper. When I am just going out and what to give them a treat, I use carrots, apples, just about anything "natural", just like stated above. Sugar cubes would not be bad once in awhile, but not too often. Also, just with people, it stimulates the growth of plaque in the mouth, and horses don't brush their teeth! ;)
