I very recently got two male intact llamas and they are shy. I want to bond with them but one does not let me touch him at all and the other only lets me touch him when I put a halter on him (which is almost impossible to do). The halter trained one will eat out of my hand only if I am very still.
Any suggestions?

P.S I do not want to geld them because I plan on breeding.

I would suggest CameliDynamics by Marty McGee Bennett. That is a wonderful method of handling alpacas/llamas and the llamas are usually better around you when you use these methods.

I would also suggest not keeping the intact males in with the goats. You didn't mention how old they are. If they are under 3 years old, then they are usually not as aggressive. Once they hit 3 years old, let the games begin. Hormones usually kick in big time then.

No one knows how old they are but I think they look/seem older than 3.
