See those braces at angles, those aren't temp, those are notched in to the framing of the house. They don't make them like this anymore hardly.

I foresee it now... owner is chomping on the edge of going bankrupt on this build cause he bought a bunch of BS i.e. backhoe, horses, goats etc etc etc. He (supposedly) will have enough to fund me through drying the house in and he says he can take it from there but doesn't know electrical, needs septic put in, I'm sure he will falter on the insulation amongst other things. I predict there will be a tradeoff of work for that backhoe I just hauled in coming.

Charity doesn't pay the bills and yes one should help their fellow neighbor, but not when they do stupid stuff that puts them in the situation they are in repeatedly. I have helped even though in ways I can, gave him 4 used trailer tires I am never going to need (14.5-8) on new rims, he gets water from me at a discount rate, been there when he didn't have the guts to deal with his dead goat in the middle of the night, hours upon hours of free designing and engineering after he changes his mind like I do my socks and the list goes on.

Idiot people... big ideas, no idea of actual costs and responsibilities... buying horses they don't need, animals they cannot properly house for the brutal winters you have...
I am soooo far past the doing things "for charity" to be nice and helpful to people anymore... Been taken advantage of too many times over the years...
God Bless you doing so much now... you are a better person than I am.

You mentioned that the cross braces you use were toenailed in or they were set in (didn't look back on this post). Are they to provide additional shear strength?
Set it and yes they provide additional shear strength especially for that one window in the corner. Putting a window closer than 4' to a corner requires strengthening more than sheathing can provide.
Pretty simple, square a wall up grab as many studs as possible at 45 to 60° with it, mark the lines, set the saw to depth of the 1x4, kerf it thin as possible, knock it out with hammer, use saw to clean up, set it in and nail the top and bottom plate one nail. After you set it upright and shift as needed put the, rest of the nails in. Some right by the ladder.

There is a race going on or at least I'm racing another house that is being built across the prairie land. So far I'm winning, I have gotten all the walls up, an interior wall and working my way to the roof structure part with some wall sheathing going up too. They are at the wall framing stage still. Me versus their 4 or 5 man crew, house I'm building is little over 1k square ft.
