I frequently take walks with my 80yo mother... we always try to get a feel for what the bees are currently working. The hard freezes damaged a lot of our spring blooms. Last night ended a month long drought. Everything is so green today! Hopefully the bees temperament will ameliorate. They had gotten quite testy.

I take that they were swarms lost, not swarms caught.

I don't know if I'll catch anything this year. Ah well, I can always try again next year. It's a learning process.

No, I got 'em. :) I had them in two boxes overnight but they merged today. They are running me ragged, tho!

Where are you getting all these swarms from? Are they mostly from your own TBH's? They could have made it a little easier on you and chosen a branch rather than the trunk... Pretty difficult to shake them off that. How many have you successfully captured/new hives created without them absconding? I know you said you gave one swarm away... did it stay and succeed?

Can you hear them? Or do you really have to look for them? I'm curious how noticeable they are?
