I wanted to share a picture of my new girl,Sunshine. It has been 3 weeks today since I brought her home.I did another fecal and got a 11-count on the barberpole, lots better than the first which was about 70+.I wormed her again with Ivemec again after the second fecal.I have her on a diet of alfafla pellets, beet pulp, boss,a goat pellet feed with probiotics, baking soda and loose goats minerals.I'm up to about a 4-5 cup feeding, half in the morning and half at night. She has fresh hay and clean water at all times. She is a real sweetheart. So gentle and tame. She likes to give "goat kisses".It seems to me she is doing great.I washed her the day I got her and she hasn't messed herself since. Her poo looks like goat poo should.I know she has gained weight and needs to gain more.Since she is a dairy breed I'm not sure how thick/fat she should be for normal.I've been checking her eyes and gums and while they do have more color now than when I first got her,I think because she is so white her normal gum color is lighter.I just wanted to share a picture from the day I got her and one made a couple days ago.I kinda wanted to know if you all can see any difference and how much better I might expect her to look. Thanks so much for helping with tips and ideas when I first got her.It all seems to be working.

This was made the evening I got her after I washed her bottom.

Looks a lot better. If I judge her height right from the pics I would say you want to shoot for about another 20 pounds in weight gain.

She is looking fabulous! Nice work. Judging by the looks of her back hips, a little more weight would still be okay but she is in much better condition.

WOW, what a difference. She is one lucky lady. Good job.

Here is a link to a body conditioning chart that you might find interesting and helpful. My dairy stock comes in all shapes and sizes, just like people, even though they are all on the same diets. I like them to be at the top of the body conditioning chart going into kidding, especially if you are going to be milking past kid weaning; it can really put a strain on them and I have yet to have one actually put wieght on during lactation, no matter what I feed them. Fat isn't good and can make kidding more difficult, but I do try for the "plump" range.
