using a cream separator

getting ready to use a cream separator for the first time with goat milk. we bought the separator off the internet and the directions aren't in english. any helpful hints or tips???? are you suppose to heat the milk before putting it threw the separator??? thanks for any advice!!!!!

If I were you I would repost this under the Goat "Everything Else" section. It gets a lot more traffic and there are many goat milkers on there! Hope this helps!

You need to heat the plates first. AKA run hot water through it when running.
Also need to adjust a small set screw that regulates cream to milk separation. This is a trial and error thing.
Milk needs to be held at 101 - 103 degrees. Too far either side and milk will not separate properly.

You also find that any separators require a minimum quantity of milk to get working and coat the plates. For best effect you really want to do at least 3 gallons at a crack even with a table top unit.

We have used many makes and models here so if you have that info I may be able to find instructions specific to your machine.
