only on things that don't expire. The thing is once I open a bottle of duramycin it goes brown in a hurry. Then I use it for foot rot, but that is about it. Duramycin and Tylan are my go to drugs.

I would contact your state Dept. or Agriculture, or Health Dept. Or maybe ask your vet or WADDL would probably know.

Does this just affected cattle products? Or other livestock products?

As far as the FDA literature states, VFD is drug specific--not use specific.
And I'm not sure if any state will get to get any kind of exemption or tailor the new regs to their own standards, since this is a federal change, but if a state's current regs meets or exceeds the new federal law, I assume the FDA would allow the state regs to stand.

Effective January 1, 2017, stricter federal rules will regulate how medically important antibioticsmedications that are important for treating human diseasecan be administered to animals in feed and drinking water. Among the provisions, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration will require veterinary oversight whenever such antibiotics are administered to any food animal species via feed or water, even if the animals are not intended for food production. From pet rabbits and pigs, to backyard poultry, to large livestock farms, the same restrictions will apply. All medically important antibiotics to be used in feed or water for food animal species will require a Veterinary Feed Directive (VFD) or a prescription.

The thing that many people miss is the IN FEED OR WATER part of the new law. For most of the nation you will be still be able to obtain OTC injectable antibiotics. In CA there will be no OTC antibiotic sales but not sure about other states. Fortunately I have a great vet that "gets it" when it comes to livestock.

This is the first I have heard about injectables in California. Do you have a link so I can read up on it? Thanks in advance!
