Waiting on calf….

Time for me to quit offering help and opinions.
Nah, this is just one snowflake with tender feelings that can't handle being told to stop doing something possibly detrimental to the cow/calf/udder. Anybody with a brain cell would have said thank you and hung around, hungry for more FREE information. Some people live in Disney La-La-Land where wolves have vegan dinners with the 3 little pigs instead of eating them, and they all live happily ever after.

You keep being you. :love

I agree with every one here, even if i dont like what im told i still lisson and try it... I am gratefull for this platform becuse i learn advice from older people who have been doing this longer then i have
And that is to your credit that you do listen and try the advice so freely given. :love

I may get raked over the coals for this but I'll throw my opinion out there.
One thing I have noticed is that some members who answer questions respond more brusquely to newcomers than people who have been here a while, despite the question/s being asked are equally ignorant. I experienced it myself.
Is that wrong and should people leave the site over it? I don't think so, but honestly it's a bit naive to think that people wouldn't get defensive.

You are not going to get raked over the coals. There are dumb questions and they deserve an answer. If you don't know, then you don't know. On the flip side, if the answer is a little brusque and you leave the forum because of it, then the prognosis for lasting very long at all in livestock is not good. Animals die. Sometimes it's just because and sometimes it is due to ignorance of the owner. I've killed my share, grieved and cried because it was my fault.

I firmly believe that people should research the animals they get and study the gobs of information that is out there. Buy books, read articles on the internet and stay away from facebook. Sadly, many do not. They go to various places asking for help and get offended when they get it. There is life on the farm and there is death also. Death knocks us low, we all handle it in various ways. But we handle it and move forward. The OP was told to quit fooling with the cow's teats, given the reason why and told of the possible results. Hopefully she followed that advice. Facts are still facts, feelings don't change them. Maybe she will lurk here and still learn, or maybe join again under a new name or use the one she has. It would be to her benefit to come back, ask more questions and keep learning. If one cannot take factual advice, then how is that person going to handle the death of that animal so loved, when it is one's own fault? Believe me, I know, I've sat up nights holding lambs until they died in my arms, knowing it was me that killed them.

It's part of being a responsible mature adult to be able to accept criticism and advice without melting down over one's feelings.

I'm still learning at 65, hopefully I'll continue to grow in knowledge to my last breath.
