Today was the day we weaned all but one of our kids (she was born late and only 4 weeks old now). I think it was more traumatic for me than the kids or dams. We didn't bottle feed any kids so now the real fun begins - milking a ff who doesn't like to be handled. Fortunately she likes grain more than she hates me. The kids bawled a little and then went back to their hay. Mommas were happy to go to green grass.

Yep weaning is always a not so fun time for the goats and us! After a few days the calling starts to slow down!

Well last nights milking was a 2.5 hour effort that ended in frustration. Mostly the goats. Today went much better. I still can't figure out how to hand milk a ff Nigerian without using tweezers. I'm pretty sure they liked me using the Henry milker as much as I did.
