I'm definitely NOT a pig expert - but most pigs with spots have a background of Gloucestershire Old Spot - which is a heritage breed. However, Old Spots are predominantly a white breed with darker spots. Lots of those pigs are crossed with other breeds. Two red breeds that come to mind are Durocs and Red Wattles. I don't see wattles on that pig so Red Wattle is not likely the breed since the wattles tend to be a dominant trait.
Just off the top of my head I'd say a cross between an Old Spot and Duroc. But, in all honesty that's a wild guess. There could be dozens of other answers to that question!
Whatever the breed - he'll probably taste good, lol!
Haha I hope he does. I'm considering using him to breed my 2 large black sows. I did come across old spots and durocs on my Google searches and was thinking the same.
Either way cant wait to taste their piglets!
