I am getting 5 piglets in a couple months. These are my first. I don't want to feed pellets. Is there any body out there that has feed custom made?

If so would you share the recipie?
Also, if getting pigs as piglets around 25 - 30lbs I am guessing raising them for about 5 months. Approximatley how large would they be and how much feed would they consume?

I would also offer left over food like lettuces, root crops but I am looking at worse case scenario as if I couldn't get these all of the time.

Thanks

Talk to your local feed mill. Your location in the country will make a huge difference as to what is available. If you are in the northern (central & west) of the USA then barley, peas & wheat are a great combination - also GMO free. You may also be able to get Sunflower seeds.

If you want organic that will also depend on where you live.

If you do make a custom feed makes sure you still give the pigs enough minerals. Pigs require lysine in their diet to do well. Lysine comes from dairy products & nuts naturally but is added to commercial feed as a supplement.

What breed of pigs are you getting?
