    Honestly, that is difficult! I would hands down have a dog always. That being said, I put goat down because I don't really consider a dog to be a herd animal; it's a necessity! I don't have one right now but hope to get another Aussie soon. I had two Aussies (both passed on :( )that were just the best at keeping the yard free from predators plus they were great with all of our animals. Our older dog, Max, always kept a close eye on the chickens (especially the young ones) to make sure they were okay.

    Sorry, but I only see one "pet" in that list... all the others are livestock, NOT pets, despite the fact that many treat them as such. Just curious why you didn't include cats?
