Hi,
We're new to pigs and are going to get two Glostershire Old Spot weaners this spring. I want them to eat the apple drops in my orchard this fall, then butcher after that. But I also like to let my chickens into the orchard for fresh greens and bugs. Would the pigs eat my chickens or could they coexist? It's about 2 acres and I have 50 chickens. Do I need to keep them apart?

Pigs are fickle creatures. I've had a litter of duroc/old spot piglets that would chase and eat my chickens. The two I have right now will let the chickens roost on them and eat their food. So honestly it just depends on the individual pig. The sow is 3/4 duroc 1/4 hampshire the boar is 3/4 hampshire 1/4 berkshire. Best two yet.

It really does come down to the individual animal in this case. You just won't know until you get your pigs. Best wishes!

I let my chickens roam the farm and do their thing. They get in the pasture with the hogs and are perfectly fine. Now eggs are a different story!

Some pigs will eat anything.
I think a pig that wouldn't eat a chicken is less common than those who will
