Ok guys. My naughty dude (yearlibg angus bottle bull-yes the nuts are still there, yes I still plan to address that) decided that while we were building up the fencing on the new farm, he would go for a bit of a walkabout... We found him 2 farms down standing next to that neighbor's fence just hanging out with that neighbor's herd of cattle, and promptly escorted him to his new digs. The new paddock has water, shade, grass taller than him, and secure fencing. It has not had livestock on it in at least a year and the last thing on it was horses. His only exposure to cattle since he was a few days old has been during his escape.

He got out on Tuesday. Wednesday night, hubbs did chores and Ford had a bloody nose and my son commented Ford was wet under his jaw, but no other real symptoms. I assumed he managed to snort a bee or something exceptionally stupid and didn't think much of it as he was eating. The spot above his nostril is from scraping it a while back, its not recent.

Thursday and Friday, chores didn't happen til dark, but today noticed he again (still?) Has a bloody nose although it's mostly thin watery discharge with a singing of blood (think "I knicked myself shaving thin), and is still drenched from chin to chest (but not blood, so assuming slobber). He's also barely drinking although I cannot tent his skin anywhere, and has minimal interest in grain (but has more grass than he had). The drooling seems to be centered on the belching and the drool is watery green like grass. But the nose bleeding became slightly more prominent after belching, too. None of the exudates seem viscous or particularly mucousy aside from the bloody nose that first day, and a bit of a gelatinous booger that showed up after a belch and looked similar to day 1 nose bleed.

Not sure what gives, or if I should freak out. I'm sure the move was a shock to his system but I'm not sure what else could be going on. I didn't see any mouth sores or oral foreign bodies to explain the drooling (he found oral examination to be quite rude), I don't feel any swellings or nodules including lymph nodes under his jaw... I have not gone home to get my veterinary bag to temp him yet (because of course we haven't moved, so it's at the other house with the livestock that don't consider fencing to be a challenge meant to be overcome). The weather is cooling off here, were in Kansas with low to mid 80s now and quite humid, so it's not that the mucosa have just dried out and caused a nosebleed.

Any insight would be appreciated...
